The time for talk on North Korea is “over”, the United States said, spurning a UN response to Pyongyang’s latest ICBM launch in favour of bomber flights and missile defence system tests.<br />

Nikki Haley, the US envoy to the United Nations, said there was “no point” in holding a fruitless emergency Security Council session, warning that another weak council resolution would be “worse than nothing” in light of the North’s repeated violations.<br />
<br />
North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un boasted of his country’s ability to strike any target in the US after an intercontinental ballistic missile test Friday which weapons experts said could even bring New York into range — a major challenge to President Donald Trump.<br />
<br />
US strategic bombers on Saturday flew over the Korean peninsula in a direct response to the launch, and on Sunday American forces successfully tested a missile interception system which the US hopes will be installed on the Korean peninsula.<br />
<br />
Under Kim’s leadership, North Korea has accelerated its drive towards a credible nuclear strike capability, in defiance of international condemnation and multiple sets of UN sanctions. The US Senate passed new bipartisan sanctions on Pyongyang on Friday.<br />
<br />
Haley urged China, Japan and South Korea to tighten the screws on Pyongyang.<br />
<br />
“An additional Security Council resolution that does not significantly increase the international pressure on North Korea is of no value,” she said in a statement late Sunday.<br />
<br />
“It sends the message to the North Korean dictator that the international community is unwilling to seriously challenge him.<br />
<br />
“China must decide whether it is finally willing to take this vital step. The time for talk is over.”<br />
<br />
Analysts said the comments indicated Washington had run out of patience with the diplomatic approach, and could consider military intervention.<br />
<br />
The latest ICBM test “poses a seemingly tangible threat to the national security of the US”, said Jeung Young-Tae, director of military studies at Dongyang University in South Korea.<br />
<br />
“Now the US will see no point in negotiation, which only helps Pyongyang earn more time to develop its weapons programmes,” he said.<br />
<br />
“Whether we want it or not, the risk of unilateral military action by the US cannot be ruled out at this point.”<br />
<br />
– ‘They do NOTHING’ –<br />
<br />
Earlier, Trump warned that he would not allow China — the impoverished North’s sole major ally and economic lifeline — to “do nothing” about Pyongyang.<br />
<br />
In two tweets Trump linked trade strains with the Asian giant — marked by a trade deficit of $309 billion last year — to policy on North Korea, after South Korea indicated it could speed up the deployment of a US missile defence system that has infuriated China.<br />
<br />
“I am very disappointed in China. Our foolish past leaders have allowed them to make hundreds of billions of dollars a year in trade, yet they do NOTHING for us with North Korea, just talk,” Trump wrote.<br />
<br />
“We will no longer allow this to continue. China could easily solve this problem!”<br />
<br />
Trump has repeatedly urged China to rein in its recalcitrant neighbour, but Beijing insists dialogue is the only practical way forward and rejects suggestions it has a special responsibility in the situation.<br />
<br />
“The DPRK nuclear issue is not due to China, the settlement of the DPRK nuclear issue requires the concerted efforts of all parties and the parties should properly recognise this issue,” China’s foreign ministry said in a statement, using the acronym for North Korea’s official name.<br />
<br />
Beijing also rejected Trump’s linkage of trade and the North, with commerce vice-minister Qian Keming telling a briefing Monday the issues “are not related, and should not be discussed together”.<br />
<br />
But Shinzo Abe, the prime minister of US treaty ally Japan, also urged Beijing to act — along with Moscow — after telephone talks with Trump on Monday Tokyo time.<br />
<br />
The North had “trampled all over” efforts to seek a peaceful solution to the situation and “unilaterally escalated” tensions.<br />
<br />
“The international community including China and Russia must take it seriously and step up pressure,” Abe told reporters.<br />
<br />
Russia’s foreign ministry, however, said it was “unjustified” for the US and other nations to try to blame Moscow and Beijing for the situation.<br />
<br />
Pyongyang lauded the developers of the missile at the weekend, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.<br />
<br />
The US-led campaign only provided “further justification” for the North’s resolve to maintain its weapons programs, the foreign ministry said in a statement carried by KCNA.<br />
<br />
The ICBM test “is meant to send a stern warning to the US making senseless remarks, being lost to reason in the frantic sanctions and pressure campaign against the DPRK,” it said.<br />

The Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, on Monday, admitted that the cost of managing the humanitarian crisis caused by insurgency especially as it concerns about 2.4 million Internally Displaced Persons and extensive destruction of infrastructure is “huge and enormous.”<br />

According to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Laolu Akande, the Acting President spoke while receiving a delegation of the African Union Peace and Security Council at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.<br />

Osinbajo said countries in the Lake Chad Basin have been cooperating in dealing with the insurgency in the region and the consequent humanitarian crisis.<br />
<br />
He cited the progress of the Multi-National Joint Task Force set up to address the terrorist insurgency as a sign of the cooperation.<br />
<br />
Osinbajo noted that unlike in the past when there were difficulties when the militaries of the four countries tried to work together, the MNJTF surmounted the challenges and has succeeded.<br />
<br />
The statement read, “However he (Osinbajo) observed that the humanitarian consequences of the insurgency are compounded by deep poverty, making the costs of dealing with the situation huge and enormous.<br />
<br />
“He recalled that there are for instance about 2.4m displaced persons, extensive destruction of property, infrastructure, schools, homes and farmland. In some cases, he said, the situation required the rebuilding of whole societies.<br />
<br />
“But he expressed satisfaction with the work of the Peace and Security Council of the AU.”

RIVERS state governor, Nyesom Wike has again accused his predecessor , the Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi of allegedly blackmailing the Supreme court justices because his appeal against the Judgement of the Appeal court on the Rivers state judicial commission of inquiry was before the apex court.<br />

Following reports that the Gwarinpa home of former President Goodluck Jonathan has been burgled, the FCT Police Monday said it has detained some of its personnel on guard duty.<br />

Although the Police declined to give the figure of those detained, the police said the detention of the personnel would help to ascertain the true position of things.<br />
<br />
The Command also said preliminary investigation revealed that some items were missing from the residence.<br />
<br />
This is contained in a statement in Abuja Monday by the Command Spokesman, DSP Anjuguri Manzah.<br />
<br />
The statement read: “The FCT police Command wishes to inform the general public that it has commenced full-fledge investigation into the case of theft in the Gwarinpa residence of former president, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan,GCFR.<br />
<br />
“Preliminary police investigation on the matter has revealed that some items were found to be missing in the house.<br />
<br />
“Meanwhile, the Policemen who are supposed to be on guard duty at the house have been detained for questioning. Investigation to find out what actually happened is currently in progress”.<br />
<br />
The Command also assured members of the public that the result of findings on the on-going investigation would be made public.<br />

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The Minister accused Wike of running an administration “that embarks on wholesale forgery and distortion of government documents and then retails it out to his minions, the media and now the judiciary in a shameful and futile bid to defame and destroy him.”</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">In a statement issued by his media office, on Sunday, Amaechi claimed the governor now brags that he has the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, and the entire judiciary in his pocket whereupon he can manipulate any judgement against him, Amaechi.</div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: justify;">The statement read, “Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike has continued to twist, falsify and forge fresh documents that he intends to use against the immediate past governor of the state and now Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.</blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: justify;">“Wike wants to use the elaborately distorted and most times outright but carefully forged documents to persecute and prosecute his erstwhile benefactor in court.<br />
“In the past couple of days, Wike has been telling anyone who cares to listen, bragging that he will certainly get a conviction, a judgement against Amaechi in the law courts on spurious charges of corruption using his forged documents because he (Wike) is in control of the judiciary at the state and national level.</blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: justify;">“For the avoidance of doubt, we wish to state that Wike has been boasting that he has the judges in the Rivers State judiciary in his pocket, that he’s in full control and that the State judiciary would always give him any judgement he wants against Amaechi.</blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: justify;">“Furthermore, Wike is bragging that the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) is his ‘main man’, that would readily and easily assist him get any judgement he wants against Amaechi at the apex court, using his contorted documents.</blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: justify;">“Wike is also telling anyone who cares to listen that the Supreme Court (Justices) and judges generally are not happy with Amaechi and so they would easily convict him with any forged document he presents in court. Power drunk Wike is using the recent visit of the CJN to Rivers State as his bragging right to prove his ‘extreme’ closeness to the CJN.</blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: justify;"> “Nigerians would recall that only a few days back, Livingstone Wechie, the young man Wike used to accuse Amaechi of corruption and write false and frivolous petitions to the National Assembly, EFCC etc, confessed in a live television programme and in a statement he also circulated to the media, that all the documents he used to wrongfully portray Amaechi as corrupt when he governed Rivers State, were phonies, forged documents given to him by Wike’s Rivers State Government House.</blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: justify;">“Wechie also admitted, like we have always said, that the forged documents were used as the template and basis for the Justice Omereji led Judicial Commission of Inquiry, a panel Wike set up early in his administration to witch-hunt, malign, vilify and persecute Amaechi.</blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: justify;">“Sadly, this is the kind of administration that presides over the affairs of Rivers people. An administration that embarks on wholesale forgery and distortion of government documents and then retails it out to his minions, the media and now the judiciary in a shameful and futile bid to defame and destroy Amaechi. Brazenly, without any scruples, Governor Wike runs an administration that manufactures and concocts documents to indict Amaechi of corruption. Yes, this is the kind of character, a low-level conman that is at the helm of affairs in Rivers State.</blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: justify;">“Since he became governor, Wike’s sole agenda has been to attack and vilify Rotimi Amaechi, no matter how ridiculous and silly he sounds. Everyday in Rivers State, there is one frivolous, false story of what Amaechi did or didn’t do. Same pattern, the same blatant lies using distorted and forged documents, same old concocted stories of corruption allegations against Amaechi told with different twists.</blockquote>

“I kindly make this passionate appeal to Nigerians, that president Buhari should be left to rest. Nobody can question or decide who should get ill. This is a divine manifestation, that only God can answer. Since he has willingly handed over power to the Vice President as stipulated by the constitution, I recommend that the National Assembly should  as a matter of urgency be delegating the various House Committees to address and pass legislation that will make it mandatory for all states to provide standard world class hospitals to meet international standard and provide quality services to the ordinary Nigerians. I strongly advise that Nigerian top government officials should stop visiting the president in London, since he is certified to be alive,” he said.<br />

“The report that National Assembly members want to visit him is totally irrelevant. They should visit our federal roads that have taken many lives. The Benin-Abuja road, eastern roads, Benin-Ore road and many others, most importantly, visit the stranded children and families in the north east, our public hospitals without dialysis equipment and non functioning emergency and accident units,” he added.<br />

Speaking further he decried the state of infrastructures in the country, begging the National Assembly, both Upper and Lower Houses, to pay urgent attention to resuscitating them rather than playing to the gallery with ostentatious visit to the President in London.<br />

“Our child mortality rate is among the highest in the world today and even our higher institutions are  rated sub-standard. Those and many more should be their primary concern; passing legislation to create social welfare for youths, with a view to curbing kidnapping, terrorism and militancy. This should be a time for sober reflection as a nation and not glamourising an unfortunate situation. Many Nigerians are faced with health issues in the  public hospitals  and they can’t afford medical trips abroad. Providing an environment where each and every Nigerian can have easy access to quality healthcare should be their priority. I kindly request that president Buhari should be allowed to rest, health issues are not for jamborees let alone to be used to score cheap political points. Nobody knows who is next. May God protect Mr president and bless our nation Nigeria,” he quipped.<br />

An electoral alliance of 15 political parties, known as ‘The Mega Coalition’ has announced its endorsement of Sen. Andy Uba, as their consensus candidate for the November 18, 2017 gubernatorial election.<br />

The senator who represents Anambra South in the national assembly is one of at least 10 aspirants that have picked nomination and expression of interest forms of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC.<br />

‘Chancellor’ of the coalition and chairman, National Unity Party NUP, Chief Perry Opara in a statement said the decision was reached after series of meetings by the National Chairmen of participating parties in Abuja and Akwa and rigorous scrutiny of the numerous candidates for the plum job.<br />
<br />
“Sen. Andy Uba is cerebral, humane, quintessential, and less controversial, experienced and has the capacity to win elections in Anambra State. He has not lost an election before and has contacts at his finger tips to move Anambra forward. Andy Uba is a national figure who can reach any person in Nigeria irrespective of how highly placed. Andy Uba stands tall as an Iroko in Anambra State guber election.<br />
<br />
“He will be the bridge between the South East and the rest of Nigeria. He will bring peace and stability to Igboland and be a link to the Federal Government in attracting Federal presence to the South East Zone and Anambra in particular”, the coalition explained.<br />
<br />
Some of the parties in the alliance include the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria ACPN, Better Nigeria Progressive Party BNPP, Democratic Alternative DA, Democratic People’s Congress DPC and Democratic People’s Party DPP, National Unity Party NUP among others.<br />
<br />
The coalition noted that though APC is not a very popular party in the South East, it however parades the best and experienced candidates in the race for Anambra election.<br />
<br />
“There are also other qualified aspirants like Chief George Muoghalu and Dr. Chike Obidigbo and Dr. Obinna Uzor, Hon. Nwoye, Engr. Barth Nwibe and Dr. Obigboh of PDP. These aspirants also have capacity to win the race but among all, Sen. Andy Uba tops the pack”, the parties noted.<br />

Opara added that their consideration was not base on party platform but on an individual that has capacity to win the elections come November 18 2017.<br />

“We are not in enmity with APC, PDP or any other party. Our consideration is the candidate who is calm, calculated and has capacity to withstand the storm in running election.<br />

“When we win, we shall form a Government of State Unity GSU and everybody will be carried along. We don’t want winner takes all. We want inclusive government in Anambra State”, he added.<br />

The Coalition urged the APC leadership and the delegates in Anambra to choose Senator Andy Uba as their candidate for November 18th Election.<br />

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Trouble started when Samaila, who was married to one Umar Akwanga approached the court for dissolution of the marriage, following the failure of the latter to pay her bride price and for testing positive to HIV without disclosing his status to her.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">She claimed that after, “consummating for over three months” she discovered that Akwanga was HIV, AIDS positive, a situation that led to her filing for dissolution of the union before the Abdullahi-led court.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The complainant, however admitted that Akwanga paid N10,000 out of the N30,000 fixed as her dowry.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">However, when the case came up for hearing, the sole judge asked that the money be withdrawn and deposited at his court “for safe keeping” which was done.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">In a petition to the Chief Justice of Nasarawa State, Samaila claimed that a “subsequent,” hearing, she filed for withdrawal of her case and the money.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">However, the complainant claimed that the judge, “called her lawyer into his chambers and stated that he has converted the deposited sum and promise to repay the money. As of now, he has not repaid the money.”</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">She also claimed that her uncle who doubles as her guardian, Shuaibu Ibrahim is “pursuing a criminal case against Akwanga whom has threatened to deal with her uncle for being the one who discovered his status as a carrier of HIV/AIDS.”</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Samaila, disclosed that her uncle has been “mounting pressure” on the judge to release the money, a situation that made the judge to resort to intimidation.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">She alleged that the judge uses somebody she simply identified as “Sam” to threaten and intimidate her.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The petition reads in part, “The uncle had been mounting pressure on the S. B. Abdullahi to repay the money. The said judge had been calling his lawyer to terminate the case because of that plea to repay the money but the lawyer did succumbed to his threat.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“After 3 adjournment, the presiding judge on the 6/06/2017 invited the parties into his chambers and said the complainant must terminate his case but the complainant insisted on justice must be done.</div>

The Director-General, Budget Office of the Federation, Mr. Ben Akabueze, confirmed this on Monday in Abuja while speaking at a workshop for budget officers in Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government.<br />
<br />
GIFMIS is an information technology-based system for budget management and accounting that is being implemented by the Federal Government to improve public expenditure management processes, enhance greater accountability and transparency across MDAs.<br />
<br />
It is designed to make use of modern information and communication technologies to help the government to plan and use its financial resources more efficiently and effectively.<br />
<br />
Speaking at the workshop, Akabueze explained that over 4,250 government officials involved in budget preparation from about 800 MDAs across the country would be trained on how to use the automated GIFMIS platform for the 2018 budget preparation.<br />
<br />
The DG budget said the adoption of GIFMIS for budget preparation would enhance seamless linkage between preparation, submission, execution, monitoring, evaluation and reporting.<br />
<br />
He said the objective of the training was to equip budget officers in the MDAs with the knowledge, skills and tools they require to prepare and submit the 2018 budget on time.</div>

A Christian cleric, Prophet Christopher Owolabi, on Monday called for an end to killings in Ikorodu,  Lagos State, in the interest of national security, progress and peaceful co-existence.<br />

Owolabi, the General Overseer,  Christ Apostolic Church,  Ori-Oke Irapada, Omu-Aran, Kwara, made the call during a special prayer for Nigeria’s democratic development in Omu-Aran.<br />

The cleric said that the killings by a cult known as Badoo should be a cause for concern for all Nigerians, adding that it deserved to be treated as a matter of urgency and national importance.<br />
<br />
He urged that the federal and Lagos State governments should deploy adequate resources to end the killings without delay.<br />
<br />
The cleric noted that Lagos was inhabited by people from various tribes and states of the federation.<br />
<br />
“The killings in Lagos should  be a concern of every Nigerian irrespective of ethnic,  religious or political background, as the state is home for all.<br />
<br />
“The nation, with its numerous socio-economic challenges, should not witness anymore security threats, especially, as we look forward to another electoral process in 2019,” he said.<br />
<br />
Owolabi urged improvement in intelligence gathering by security operatives, adding that they should be able to arrest and expose those behind the killings.<br />
<br />
He, however, commended the Lagos State Government for efforts so far in checking the killings.<br />
<br />
Owolabi urged governments to give priority attention to youth employment as a strategy to curb crime.<br />
<br />
He also appealed to religious leaders to intensify efforts toward promoting a violence- free society.</div>

Juventus were also keen on Matic but the player, who will be 29 on Tuesday, preferred a move to Old Trafford and being reunited with Mourinho, who was a key component of Chelsea’s title-winning team in 2014-15 after being brought back to the club in January 2014. Chelsea were particularly keen to drive a hard bargain with United after missing out to them over the signing of Romelu Lukaku.<br />

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Members of the group had also attacked a governorship candidate, Chief Godwin Ezeemo in Ihiala at the weekend, disrupting activities at his father in-laws burial ceremony with chants of ‘no election in Anambra’.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">A release signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Mr. James Eze cautioned that unless decisive action was taken by the leadership of IPOB, its growing popularity will soon suffer a setback.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Eze said the only possible explanation for the action of the youths on Sunday may have been the presence of Governor Willie Obiano who had arrived the church to celebrate with the Catholic Youths of the parish who were marking their 2017 Youth Day.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The release said that such unwarranted attack on the number one citizen of the state was bad for the image of the group.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Eze added that despite the interferences, Governor Obiano later addressed the congregation, urging the youths to dedicate their lives to Christ especially at this moment in the nation’s history which placed undue pressure on young people.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">It added that the Governor further reassured the people that the coming gubernatorial election would hold as scheduled and urged everyone to strive to maintain the peace that Anambra was known for.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Meanwhile, IPOB has disowned the youths who attacked Obiano on Sunday, saying they were not its members.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Comrade Emma Powerful, the group’s media and publicity secretary in a press release denied the youths, saying that they may be fake IPOB members hired by politicians in the hope of labeling the group as violent.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Kachikwu stated this on Monday in his address at the opening ceremony of the Nigeria Annual International Conference and Exhibition organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers in Lagos.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">According to him, the country was being left behind by its peers who had dramatically reduced their costs of production.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“When you look at the cost of production in Nigeria, it remains blatantly high. Our cost per barrel today is about $27 per barrel for JV (joint venture) fields. In Saudi Arabia, it is about $9. So we are way apart in terms of cost that anything that happens will hit us very hard,” Kachikwu said.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The minister said, “Even though we have been singing over the last two years that we need to drive cost down, the current figure that I still have showing me the numbers of last year have not shown me a major dramatic reduction in the cost of production.”</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">He said they would compel a reduction in the cost because, “there is no way this country will produce oil at this sort of swelling prices that we see; there will be no margins left for country.”</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">According to Kachikwu, only oil companies who are able to drive down costs will have a footage in Nigeria.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">He said, “For me, you rather leave the oil in the ground than produce at a cost that doesn’t make sense. So, cost is going to be a very high driver. So that is certainly one area we are focusing on; we are working collaboratively with oil companies.</div>

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), have confirmed that they will investigate Neymar’s proposed move from Barcelona to Paris Saint – Germain, even if no complaint is received.<br />

In the western state of Gujarat, 213 people have been killed in weeks of flooding, state disaster management officials said, almost doubling the death toll after about 100 bodies were found when water started receding.<br />

Suresh Kumar, West Bengal’s top disaster management official, said 31 deaths were reported in a week of flooding in the state.<br />
<br />
“Heavy rains have caused massive damage in several districts,” Kumar told AFP.<br />

Landslides and flash floods in the northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam since April have left dozens dead, while Jharkhand and Bihar have also been badly hit. Nearly 140 lightning deaths have been reported in Bihar since May.<br />

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Monday, accused the federal and Anambra State governments of recruiting those it described as uneducated individuals and students in the universities to infiltrate into its ranks in order to label the organization a violent group.<br />

IPOB was apparently reacting to Sunday’s incident at Ekwulobia in Aguata local government area of Anambra State where some youths dressed in IOPB uniform and waving Biafra flags tried to force themselves into St. Joseph’e Church in the town where Governor Willie Obiano was worshiping at the time.<br />
<br />
The indigenous people of Biafra(IPOB) and it’s leadership worldwide under the command and leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu accuses the Federal Government, Gov Obiano and some few politicians in Nigeria of recruiting some unducated individuals and students in the universities to infiltrate into IPOB in order to label IPOB as a violent group.<br />
<br />
In a statement Monday, IPOB media and publicity secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful accused government contractors of mobilizing people who went to the Catholic Church and harassed those in a church service, alleging that the aim was to create room for security operatives to begin to arrest IPOB members in Ekwulobia and its environs.<br />
<br />
The statement by Powerful read: “IPOB leaders and members are very intelligent people who cannot involve themselves in any act of violence. It is crystal clear to all and sundry that IPOB under Nnamdi Kanu remains nonviolent in its pursuit for Biafra freedom and cannot change our methods of peaceful approach towards the restoration of Biafra. The election boycott in Anambra come November this year remains, but cannot cause any violence.<br />
<br />
“We are aware that some politicians and Nigeria security employed some uneducated individuals and groups in the society to harass the general public in the name of IPOB members. Some government contractors have printed IPOB t- shirts and Biafra flag with huge amount of money to be shared to the hungry youths to claim to be IPOB members under Nnamdi Kanu.<br />
<br />
“We advise the general public to beware of fake IPOB members, who were paid by politicians to cause confusion in Anambra and states in Biafraland.”<br />
<br />
Meanwhile, several bus loads of suspected IPOB members were sighted in Awka on Sunday evening as they headed towards Onitsha through the old Enugu-Onitsha road.<br />
Comprising mainly people between the 20 – 25 age bracket, and chanting Biafra songs and displaying Biafra banners, they kept shouting to other motorists and passerby that there would be no election in Anambra State in November.<br />
Many residents of Awka said they were part of the reinforcement that tried to disrupt Governor Obiano-s church service at Ekwulobia.</div>
