45- year-old Deji Adenuga has been arrested by the Ondo State Police Command on Tuesday for setting ablaze his ex-girlfriend and nine other family members at Igbodigo, in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.
<a href="http://www.concisenews.global" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Concise News</a> gathered that the suspect was said to have carried out the dastardly act following a disagreement between him and his then-girlfriend, Titi Sanumi.
Paraded before journalists at the headquarters of the <a href="http://www.concisenews.global/tag/police-command">Police command</a> in Akure, the state capital, the suspect explained that his estranged girlfriend and her sister, identified as Jumoke (now late) had been extorting money from him for a long time.
He explained that he and Titi had been living like a husband and wife since last year, saying the disagreement began when his ex-lover collected money from him to start a business but she squandered it and terminated her four-month pregnancy.
He added that they had taken each other to the Police station for settlement on many occasions.
He narrated, “What actually happened was that she (Titi) aborted the four-month pregnancy that she had for me while we were dating each other.
“We have been having issues in recent times and I have spent much money on her.
“I gave her the sum of N30,000 to do petty trading as she sells sachet water.
“Later, I gave her another sum of N25,000 to keep for me, making it N55,000, but I think she spent the money lavishly because she was staying with me.
“While she was staying with me, her elder sister, Jumoke, used to collect money from me. I later discovered that they were extorting me.
“I went to the Police station to report what she and her elder sister were doing to me, but the Police saw it as a small issue that could be resolved amicably.
“After we left the Police station, they began to abuse me and made jest of me, saying I am a failure and not even a man for dragging them to the Police station.
“In fact, they threatened me. They said they would deal with me and even kill me if I did not desist from reporting them on the street. I now see those words as big threats. So I believe I had to act fast before they carried out their threats.
“That same day, I planned to take the action and I went to the petrol station at night, bought a fuel and stormed their house and poured petrol inside the room while I ran away. My intention was to kill Titi and her sister, I didn’t mean to kill the entire family, ”
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Undie Adie described Adenuga as a notorious criminal who was once imprisoned following a murder case.
According to the commissioner, “It is unfortunate to note that the same suspect is notorious for committing heinous crimes, especially murder, as he had earlier killed his former wife, one Abiye, sometime in year 2000, which led to his being remanded in Olokuta Prison.”
“He, however, escaped with other inmates during a jail break in 2013.
“The earlier murder case is also going to be looked into with a view to having him face the full weight of the law,” the CP added.
He said Titi was currently undergoing treatment in an undisclosed hospital in the state.

The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the kidnapped of Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Commission (<a href="http://www.concisenews.global/tag/ubec" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">UBEC</a>) and his daughter along <a href="https://www.concisenews.global/2019/04/29/many-flee-as-gunmen-block-kaduna-abuja-expressway/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Kaduna-Abuja Highway.</a>
In a statement issued by the Kaduna State Command of the Nigeria Police Force, <a href="http://www.concisenews.global">Concise News</a> gathered that the UBEC Chairman’s driver was killed in the process.
According to the statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, DSP Yakubu Sabo, “Today 29/04/19 we received information through DPO Katari that at about 1530hrs, he got a distress call that Armed Men in military uniform intercepted a Land Cruiser Jeep with Reg. No 07E o4 FG and Toyota Sienna with Reg. No SLJ 465 TN at Kurmin Kare Village along Kaduna – Abuja Express Way.
“They opened fire on the vehicles in the process the driver of the jeep was shot dead while the occupants; Dr Muhammad Abubakar who is the chairman of Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and his daughter were kidnapped
“The occupants of the Sienna; one Alowonle Olalere and Onuka Victor both of Ibadan Oyo State were injured and rescued to Katari Police Station.
“They were said to be returning from Kano where they went to shoot a film titled ‘the last step’.
“Combined Teams of PMF Men, Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command, Special Forces and Operations Yaki were quickly mobilized to the area with a view to combing the bush for possible rescue of the victims and arresting the criminals.
IGP’S IRT was also contacted for technical support in tracking the hoodlums. At the moment, the two vehicles were recovered to station.” It stated.
The statement further said that the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmad Abdur-Rahman appealed to members of the public to support the Police with relevant information that could assist in apprehending the perpetrators of this heinous act.
He said the command will not be deterred in its efforts to bring crime to the barest minimum in the State.
“CP Ahmad said the hoodlums are only testing our collective will and we cannot relent.” The statement read.

<a href="http://www.concisenews.global">Concise News</a> understands that Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Keyamo revealed In a statement sent to Channels Television on Monday that both leaders of the <a href="http://www.concisenews.global/tag/all-progressive-congress" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">All Progressives Congress</a> (APC) ironed out their differences when they met on April 14.
He Said; “The meeting, which was at the instance of Senator Godwill Akpabio, was brokered by two chieftains of the party, Alhaji Nasiru Danu, (the Dan Amarna of Dutse) and <a href="http://www.concisenews.global/tag/festus-keyamo">Mr Festus Keyamo</a>, SAN.
“Alhaji Danu, was one of the Directors of Logistics of the APC Presidential Campaign Council and a long-time ally of President Muhammadu Buhari while Mr Keyamo was the Director of Strategic Communications of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.”
The SAN explained that the meeting which lasted several hours took place at the private residence of Mr Danu in the Asokoro region of Abuja, the nation’s capital.
He disclosed that the former governors “frankly and honestly” talked about their disagreements from their days as governors while they were both in the Peoples Democratic Party (<a href="http://www.concisenews.global/tag/pdp">PDP</a>).
Keyamo added that <a href="http://www.concisenews.global/tag/rotimi-amaechi">Amaechi</a> and Akpabio discussed and analysed the performance of the APC in the South-South region in the just-concluded elections and identified areas where things went wrong and how to improve those areas in future.
“At the end, both leaders agreed to close ranks and work in unison for the overall interest of the party in the country,” he said.
“They promised to put behind them all previously perceived misgivings between them and to give a positive direction to the teeming supporters of the party across the country.”
