<p>Governor Samuel Ortom  of Benue state on Thursday warned livestock owners in the state against infringements on the state’s Anti Open Grazing law, <a href="http://concisenews.global/news">Concise News</a> reports.</p>
<p>Ortom gave the warning in a statement issued by Terver Akase, the Chief Press Secretary in Makurdi.</p>
<p>He cautioned livestock owners in the state to abide by the requirements of the law by properly ranching their animals and warned that defaulters of the law would be sanctioned.</p>
<p>The governor was irked by the sight of herds of cattle roaming Makurdi metropolis and ordered the livestock guards to immediately swing to action and impound them.</p>
<p>“The governor directed livestock guards to immediately impound the animals and take them to the quarantine unit where they will remain for seven days until the requisite fine is paid or auction them.”</p>
<p>Ortom said that the law did not accord preferences to any individual or group, whether or not they were Benue indigenes.</p>
<p>“Herders who refuse to keep their livestock in ranches will be prosecuted in accordance with provisions of the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law, 2017.”</p>
<p>He therefore called on Benue people to volunteer information regarding open grazing of animals to livestock guards, saying officers and men of the agency could not be everywhere.</p>
<h3 class="blog-post-title"><strong>FRSC seeks collaboration with Benue Assembly on road safety</strong></h3>
<p>In related news, the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC) Benue Command, Corps Commander Aliyu Baba, has appealed for collaboration with the Benue Assembly in the management of road safety in the state.</p>
<p>Baba, who made the appeal when he led other officers of the corps on a courtesy visit to the Speaker, Titus Uba on Wednesday in Makurdi, said that the collaboration would help to minimise accident on roads.</p>
<p>The Commander told the Speaker that the Corps was ready to grant him honorary Special Marshall and opportunity to train Assembly drivers on how to drive in a convoy, to prevent accident.</p>
<p>Baba further appealed to the speaker to prevail on relevant authorities to provide ambulances to ease efforts of the corps in responding to accident victims in the state.</p>
<p>He also appealed to the ninth Assembly to revisit the State Traffic Agency Bill and ensure its passage.</p>
<p>According to him, the bill has enormous benefits to the people of the state, especially in the creation of employment.</p>
<p>Responding, the speaker decried incessant road accident on Nigerian roads and called for strengthening of the road safety management to minimise accident across the country.</p>
<p>Uba pledged the commitment of the ninth Assembly toward passing the bill seeking to provide for road traffic management and make provision for road traffic and vehicle inspection in Benue.</p>
<p>He also promised total collaboration of the Assembly to ensure safety on the roads in the state.</p>
<p>The speaker assured the corps that the House would take its request to the appropriate quarters, for the provision of ambulances to ease corps`effort to road accident.</p>

<p>The Leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), <a href="https://www.concisenews.global/news">Nnamdi Kanu</a>, on Thursday, told the Federal High Court, Abuja, that he was ready to face trial if his safety would be guaranteed by the court.</p>
<p>Kanu made this known to the presiding judge, Justice Binta Nyako, through his counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor.</p>
<p>Ejiofor told the court that the application to restore the IPOB leader’s bail so that he could face his trial was filed on April 1.</p>
<p>“We have an application for bail filed on April 1, 2019, the application was served on the prosecution and it is ripped for hearing.</p>
<p>“We urge the court to restore his bail on the ground that the court will guarantee his safety when he comes back to the country to continue his trial,” he said.</p>
<p>However, counsel to the Federal Government, Labaran Shuaibu, opposed the application and told the court that he was just seeing the process.</p>
<p>Shuaibu urged the court to adjourn the matter to enable them filed the necessary processes.</p>
<p>Delivering the ruling, Justice Nyako, who adjourned the matter till Jan. 16, said the only way she could guarantee Kanu’s safety was to keep him in the prison.</p>
<p>She said even judges are no longer safe in the country.</p>
<p>“Even judges are being abducted in the country. So prison is the only safest place for him,” she said.</p>
<p>The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Justice Nyako had ordered the re-arrest of the self-proclaimed leader of IPOB, Kanu.</p>
<p>The judge gave the order in a ruling after revoking the bail granted to Kanu.</p>
<p>She explained that the court gave the order because Kanu had failed to appear in court after his bail was granted in April 2017.</p>
<p>The judge also ordered that trial would continue in the absence of the IPOB leader and directed that a bench warrant be issued for his arrest.</p>
<p>Justice Nyako had granted Kanu bail on health grounds on April 25, 2017, and asked him to present three sureties, one of whom must be a serving senator, a Jewish religious leader and a highly respected person who must own a landed property in Abuja.</p>
<p>The judge warned the IPOB leader against granting press interviews, holding rallies or being in a gathering of more than 10 persons while on bail.</p>
<p>She had also warned him that the bail would be revoked if he flouts any of the conditions.</p>

<p>Twitter will ban political advertising on its platform next month, the company’s chief executive said on Wednesday, a move that won praise from Democrats and scorn from Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.</p>
<p>“We’ve made the decision to stop all political advertising on Twitter globally,” said Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey in a statement here “We believe political message reach should be earned, not bought.”</p>
<p>Analysts do not expect the ban, which takes effect on Nov. 22, to significantly reduce Twitter’s business. Its shares fell 1.9% in after-hours trading.</p>
<p>Social media companies, including Twitter rival Facebook face growing pressure to stop carrying ads that spread false information that could steer elections.</p>
<p>Facebook has pledged efforts to deal with misinformation after Russian propaganda on the platform was seen to affect the outcome of the 2016 U.S. presidential election, which was won by Trump, a Republican.</p>
<p>But Facebook made a decision to not fact-check ads run by politicians, drawing ire from Democratic candidates running in the 2020 presidential election such as former Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Elizabeth Warren.</p>
<p>“We appreciate that Twitter recognizes that they should not permit disproven smears, like those from the Trump campaign, to appear in advertisements on their platform,” said Bill Russo, deputy communications director for the Biden campaign, in an emailed statement.</p>
<p>Biden has faced attacks from Trump, offered without evidence, about the foreign business dealings of his son Hunter.</p>
<p>“It would be unfortunate to suggest that the only option available to social media companies to do so is the full withdrawal of political advertising, but when faced with a choice between ad dollars and the integrity of our democracy, it is encouraging that, for once, revenue did not win out,” said Russo.</p>
<p>Brad Parscale, who is running Trump’s re-election campaign, described Twitter’s move as an “attempt to silence conservatives” and “a very dumb decision” for the company’s shareholders.</p>
<p>“Will Twitter also be stopping ads from biased liberal media outlets who will now run unchecked as they buy obvious political content meant to attack Republicans,” Parscale said in a statement. “This is yet another attempt to silence conservatives, since Twitter knows President Trump has the most sophisticated online program ever known.”</p>
<p>A Twitter spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.</p>
<p>Earlier this month, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg defended the company’s policy, saying it did not want to stifle political speech.</p>
<p>Dorsey wrote on Twitter that paying for ads forces “targeted political messages on people” with a power that “brings significant risks to politics, where it can be used to influence votes to affect the lives of millions.”</p>
<p>He added that it was not credible for Twitter to say it was trying to stop the spread of misleading information “but if someone pays us to target and force people to see their political ad…well…they can say whatever they want!”</p>

<p>According to the jeweler, Rafaello and Co, Kenneth commissioned them to make their wedding rings, working together on a design for several months.</p>

<p>The police in Ebonyi state have debunked the claim by the Indigenous People of Biafra (<a href="http://concisenews.global/biafra-news">IPOB</a>) that officers attacked the outlawed group when they were meeting on Sunday.</p>

<p>While many women do not like to be addressed as a full housewives, controversial <a href="http://concisenews.global/entertainment/">Nollywood</a> actress Lizzy Anjorin has revealed that she would love to be one.</p>
<p>Anjorin made the revelation in an Instagram post, where she stated that she would also love to marry a wealthy man in her next life.</p>
<p>Stating her reason for making the declaration, the mother of one expressed how exhausted she is as a result of trying to make ends meet.</p>
<p>“Belief me <em>[sic],</em> when next I am coming to this world, I wanna be full housewife of baba olowo that has brain and heart. I swear work wan kill me. Abi na laziness dey worry me ni?” Anjorin wrote.</p>
<p>The actress was recently in the news after <a href="https://www.concisenews.global/2019/09/19/lizzy-anjorin-tenders-apology-over-rifts-with-toyin-abraham/">she accused Toyin Abraham of leaking damaging reports about her to blogs</a>.</p>
<p>This came after she was reportedly held on drug peddling suspicions during her recent trip to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.</p>
<p>They have since then shaded each other on social media platform, as well as filing lawsuits for defamation of character.</p>

<p>Reacting to the development, Ejimakor referenced Kanu’s call for election boycott in South-East in the build-up to the election. A decision Kanu would later call off.</p>
<p>The legal practitioner opined that ‘Atiku was never coming’, claiming ‘all the signs were there’.</p>

<h3 class="blog-post-title"><strong>I’m unbroken by Supreme Court’s verdict – Atiku</strong></h3>
<p>Meanwhile, Atiku on Wednesday in Abuja said that he remained unbroken in spite of the Supreme Court judgment against his appeal.</p>
<p>Atiku stated this  in reaction to the Supreme Court judgment which affirmed the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari.</p>
<p>The former vice-president  said that as a democrat, he fought a good fight for the Nigerian people and would keep on fighting for Nigeria,  democracy and justice.</p>
<p>“I am too focused on Nigeria to think about myself. I gave up that luxury 20 years ago. The question is not if I am broken. The question is if Nigeria is whole?’</p>
<p>“This is not a time for too many words. It will suffice for me to remind Nigeria of this – we are an independent nation and we are the architects of our fate.</p>
<p>“If we do not build a free Nigeria, we may end up destroying her, and God forbid that that should be the case.</p>
<p>“I was a democrat, I am a democrat, and I will always continue to be a democrat. May God bless Nigeria.’’</p>
<p>He, however,  said that he must accept that the judicial route he chose to take, as a democrat, had come to an end.</p>
<p>He said that while he believed that only God was infallible everywhere , only Nigerians were infallible in the country’s democracy.</p>
<p>Atiku  said that whether justice was done it was was left to the Nigerian people to decide.</p>
<p>He, however, said that the judgment was part of democratic challenges Nigeria must face as a nation.</p>
<p>Atiku  alleged that the Nigerian judiciary had been sabotaged and undermined by overreaching forces who had undone the democratic progress the PDP and its administrations nurtured for 16 years.</p>
<p>“In a democracy, you need a strong judiciary, a free press and an impartial electoral umpire. Nigeria has none of those three elements as at today.</p>
<p>“One man, one woman, one youth, one vote, should be the only way to make gains in a democracy. And when that is thwarted, the clock starts to tick.</p>
<p>“Two and a half millennia ago, Sophocles said “If we are to keep our democracy, there must be one commandment: ‘Thou shalt not ration justice.’ Nigeria will do well to observe this warning.’’</p>
<p>He appreciated all Nigerians who had stayed the course since the commencement of trial in the petition on the February 23 presidential election.</p>

<p>Mikel Agu justified his inclusion in the Super Eagles list for upcoming 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Benin Republic and Lesotho in November with a scintillating performance for his club Victoria de Guimaraes.</p>
<p>The Midfielder was part of the Super Eagles team during the qualifiers for Russia 2018 World cup before he was dropped on the eve of the tournament.</p>
<p>The performance of the player who is on loan from FC Porto was very impressive on Wednesday night as Guimaraes thrashed Belenenses 5-0.</p>
<p>He was on target in the 5th minute but was booked in the 12th minute and also recorded an assist.</p>
<p>Mikel received massive applause from the home fans after he was substituted in the 78th minute for Pepe.</p>
<p>He is expected to team up with the rest of the Super Eagles players when the camp finally opens for the matches.</p>

<p>While fans of <a href="http://concisenews.global/entertainment/">reality star</a> Tacha were worried about her disappearance from Instagram, she has revealed that numerous messages she gets prompted her action.</p>
<p>Hours ago, Tacha stirred reactions on Instagram, as many claimed her account was hacked or deleted.</p>
<p>But speaking in a live video with former BBNaija housemate, Tboss on Wednesday, the Port Harcourt first daughter said she intentionally deleted the  account.</p>
<p>According to her, many of her fans slide into her DM, wanting her attention.</p>
<p>She stated that she gets about 5000 messages each day and it is impossible to acknowledge all, hence her decision to go off the platform for a while.</p>
<p>Recall that some weeks ago, Tacha deactivated her account with the claims of re-branding.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the Instagram queen bagged the <a href="https://www.concisenews.global/2019/10/30/tacha-beats-mercy-others-to-bag-emerging-celebrity-of-year-award/">award of the ’emerging celebrity of the year’.</a></p>
<p>Tacha was nominated in the Starzz award alongside BBNaija S4 winner Mercy Ekeh and Ghanaian dwarf, Shatta Bandle.</p>
<p>Starrz awards had made the announcement for the 2029 edition on some television stations and their social media handles.</p>
<p>The nominees list was competitive, as it saw most notable stars/brands battle it out in all 27 categories.</p>
<p>But winners were determined by number of votes by fans.</p>
<p>Tacha, despite facing backlashes from BBNaija fans during the show, has much fans-base than the pepper dem gang.</p>

<p>The national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu, has extended an invitation to Atiku Abubakar to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) to move the nation forward rapidly.</p>
<p>He made the appeal while congratulating the APC and President Muhammadu Buhari for a “well-deserved legal affirmation of a hard-won electoral victory”, and also commended PDP and Atiku for their tenacious pursuit of what was their legal remedies.</p>
<p>“The rule of law conclusively affirmed the collective voice of the people by dismissing the petition filed by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and their presidential candidate, former vice president Atiku Abubakar,” Tinubu said in a statement he personally signed.</p>
<p>“Atiku should now channel the energy and intellect deployed in the electoral and legal processes toward joining APC to move this nation more rapidly and assuredly forward.”</p>
<p>The former Lagos State governor also commended the supreme court for its competent way of handling the case.</p>
<p>“Democracy has been affirmed and strengthened. By its ruling, the supreme court also affirmed that the rule of law is paramount; that the law is to be applied objectively, without regard to fear, friend or foe,” he said.</p>
<p>“The law is the law. Nothing is to be added to it and nothing subtracted from it. No one should enjoy undue favour or suffer unjust prejudice from its application.</p>
<p>“In so doing, it undergirded its reputation as the highest court in the law and the ultimate guardian of the rule of law in our nation.”</p>
<p>Tinubu promised that the Buhari-led administration will work on behalf of Nigerians to build a better nation.</p>
<p>On Wednesday, a seven-man panel of the supreme court led by Tanko Mohammed, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, dismissed Atiku’s appeal against Buhari’s victory at the February 2019 elections.</p>
<p>The panel of judges led by the CJN said, “We have examined all the briefs and exhibits for over two weeks.</p>
<p>“And we agreed that there is no merit in this appeal. The appeal is dismissed. Reasons to be given on a date to be announced.”</p>

<p>The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has explained that it cannot disqualify Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state, for double registration because it is not an offence under the electoral act.</p>
<p>INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, said this while speaking at a quarterly media meeting with journalists on Wednesday.</p>
<p>Natasha Akpoti, a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), had approached a federal high court in Abuja asking it to disqualify the governor from the November 16 gubernatorial election over alleged double registration as a voter.</p>
<p>Akpoti was a governorship candidate before she was disqualified by the electoral commission over an invalid nomination of her running mate.</p>
<p>In the suit, Akpoti said Bello allegedly committed the offence of double registration on May 23, 2017, at the government house in Lokoja after he had reportedly registered as a voter in Abuja in 2011.</p>
<p>But reacting, Yakubu also said the commission cannot prosecute the governor, who is seeking a second term in office, because he enjoys constitutional immunity.</p>
<p>“On the issue of double registration, there is nothing INEC can do with someone who has constitutional immunity. The governor in question has a guaranteed constitutional immunity,” Yakubu said.</p>
<p>“We disciplined our staff that were involved because it is within our reach to take administrative action against them. Moreover, the electoral act does not permit us to disqualify anyone based on the account of double registration.</p>
<p>“This is our handicap.”</p>
<p>On the allegation that the commission has received a prepared list of partisan ad-hoc staff from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Yakubu challenged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to provide evidence to substantiate its allegation.</p>
<p>The INEC chairman said it is common to hear politicians making baseless allegations.</p>
<p>He said: “By and large, all we have to say is to ask those making these allegations to provide to INEC actionable evidence and we will move into action. Give us evidence and INEC will act swiftly.”</p>

<p>Director-General of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Brig.-Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim has disclosed that the scheme is awaiting directives from the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed, on when to begin the payment of the N30,000 new minimum wage to corps members.</p>
<p>The DG said serving corps members would be contacted about the payment once the NYSC gets details on the commencement of payment from the finance minister.</p>
<p>He spoke in Abuja at the opening ceremony of a meeting between top management of the NYSC and representatives of state governments with the theme: Optimising the Potentials of Corps Members for National Unity and Development: The Role of State Governments as Stakeholders.</p>
<p>Ibrahim also said corps members would be communicated about the payment of arrears on the new minimum wage, which was signed into law in April by President Muhammadu Buhari.</p>
<p>He said: “The minister (of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare) has announced it and further details will be given to us by the Minister of Finance (Mrs Ahmed). This, we are waiting for.</p>
<p>“I want to assure that just as the minister said, the corps members also benefitted from the minimum wage. The moment we get the details, they will be contacted.</p>
<p>“We are going to commence the payment, as directed by the Federal Government. I have spoken to my corps members when I visited Jigawa State about four days ago. I told them that they also have benefitted from the minimum wage. And they were so excited and were praying for the Federal Government, saying it will enable them to perform more duties for the country.</p>
<p>“Once the government commences with the civil servants, the corps members will enjoy the same. Our minister has directed that further details will be communicated to us by the minister of finance.”</p>
<p>Dare said the scheme had made immense contributions to the socio-economic, political and cultural development of the country, 46 years after it was established.</p>
<p>For the achievements to be sustained, the minister appealed to all levels of government to fulfil their obligations towards ensuring a smooth operation of the scheme.</p>
<p>He advocated for the creation of a working environment that would be conducive for the potential of corps members to be fully harnessed for national development.</p>

<p>Concise News reports that the apex court on Wednesday dismissed the appeal of the Peoples Democratic Party and its presidential candidate, Atiku seeking to overturn the judgment of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal which upheld the victory of the All Progressives Congress and its candidate President Buhari at the Feb. 2019 poll.</p>
<p>The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Tanko Mohammed, who led other members of the panel in the judgment said, “We have examined all the briefs and exhibits for over two weeks.</p>
<p>“And we agreed that there is no merit in this appeal. The appeal is dismissed. Reasons to be given on a date to be announced.”</p>
<p>Reacting to the judgement, however, Atiku on Wednesday said that he remained unbroken in spite of the Supreme Court judgment against his appeal.</p>
<p>The former Vice-President said that as a democrat, he fought a good fight for the Nigerian people and would keep on fighting for Nigeria, democracy and justice.</p>
<p>But Atiku’s comments were not well received by Kayamo who berated him for not congratulating President Buhari.</p>
<p>The minister wrote on his Twitter handle, “Congratulations Nigeria! All the lies and deceit have come to a crushing halt.</p>
<p>”About 7 months ago, I said the substance of the Petition was the most useless I have ever seen. Now, we have been vindicated. Henceforth, the opposition need to raise its game and be more constructive.</p>
<p>“A man who claims to be a democrat refuses to congratulate the winner of an election, even after highest court affirmed it. Rather, he takes a swipe at ALL democratic institutions. That’s the hallmark of a bad loser. It appears the DUBAI STRATEGY turned out to be the DUBAI TRAGEDY.”</p>

<p>French winery, Moet & Chandon has claimed that the company did not sign an endorsement deal with <a href="http://concisenews.global/entertainment/">winner of BBNaija S4</a> Mercy Ekeh.</p>
<p>This follows <a href="https://www.concisenews.global/2019/10/22/bbnaija-2019-winner-mercy-bags-international-endorsement-deal/">speculations that Mercy was given the endorsement deal</a>, after she shared a post on her Instagram handle some weeks back.</p>
<p>She posted a picture with the caption “My Newest Family, God Has Done Me Well Beyond My Humble Imaginations, I am So International @cubana_chiefpriest Baddest plug ”</p>
<p>Shortly after, official note was sent to the company, to confirm the authenticity of the deal, but the leadership claimed Mercy and her team only visited a branch of the company to celebrate her success at the BBNaija reality show.</p>
<p>However, it claimed not to have signed her.</p>
<p>‘it wrote, mercy Eke has visited our office near Lagos following her victory in the Big Brother Naija. she chose Moet and Chandon to celebrate.”</p>
<p>“We are thankful and very happy to count her among the house’s friends in Nigeria. We however have not signed any partnership with Mercy Ekeh.</p>
